5 Ingenious solutions fighting
plastic waste in South East Asia
On August 22, 2022 the Plastic Waste to Value Southeast Asia Challenge revealed 5 innovative programs that are producing scalable solutions to plastic waste. Chosen from 48 candidates, the winners were judged on three criteria:
- Increasing the amount of plastic waste managed, processed and/or recycled
- Supporting operational improvement
- Improving working conditions
The Incubation Network, in partnership with the Global Plastic Action Partnership, UpLink by the World Economic Forum, and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, launched the challenge “to accelerate innovative solutions that are focused on plastic recycling and upcycling in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, “ according to the World Economic Forum’s Uplink forum.
The winners will receive $100,000 USD, mentorship, visibility and access. Plastic Solutions recommends checking out the organizations selected for ideas, inspiration and potential collaborations.
